Epoxy paints have gained a lot of popularity for giving perfect finish to swimming pools in the past few years because of many advantages it enjoys over tiles and rendered type finishes. Tiles, for example, can develop leaks which are very difficult to repair. The joints between the tiles are also very difficult to clean. Replacement of damaged or worn out tiles is also a daunting task. Rendered type finishes have rough surfaces which can cause scratches and other injuries. Epoxy paint coatings do not suffer from any of the above mentioned handicaps. For example, Epotec pool paint available with specialist epoxy paint suppliers does not need recoating for about 7-14 years and provides a very smooth and seamless surface.

The various features of Epotec epoxy paint coating have been listed here.

Uses

The primary use of epoxy paint is to protect the swimming pool structure by acting as a waterproof barrier against the pool water. The epoxy paint uses with regards to various types of swimming pools are as follows.

  • Epotec epoxy paint for concrete protects the steel reinforcements of a concrete swimming pool against water by making the concrete impermeable to water in both liquid as well as gaseous forms. It forms a coating on the inner surfaces of the pool.

  • Epotec epoxy paint for fiberglass takes over the function of a worn out or damaged gel coat present in a fiberglass swimming pool. The function is to prevent the pool water from damaging the fiberglass shell of the pool.

  • Epotec epoxy paint can be used for both marblesheen and pebblecreet finished concrete swimming pools besides fiberglass lined concrete swimming pools.

Characteristics

Epotec epoxy coating does not have solvents or thinners which makes it a fully solid coating. This means that the coating retains the same thickness and does not undergo shrinkage. Even though the paint has no thinner, it has been created specifically to be easily applied using a brush or roller.  The epoxy coating does not react with chemicals which implies that it cannot be removed using chemical solutions.

It is necessary to apply a thick coating of the paint because thickness of the coating determines its life span. Epotec gives a standard thickness of 320 microns which is much more than other types of epoxy paints.

2-pack epoxy paint

Epotec pack features two tins with one tin containing 2.5 kg of resin and the other tin containing 0.5 kg of hardener. The hardener needs to be added to the tin containing the resin and mixed together with a plastic hand mixer. The mixing should be done slowly. The mixing process takes about 2-3 minutes. The mixture must be left undisturbed for about ten minutes.

Cleaning

The epotec epoxy paint can be easily cleaned using a simple broom because it is resistant against dirt and fugal growth. The surface can also be scrubbed using a detergent to eliminate occasional stains which may appear on it.

Long lasting

Epotec does not peel off or flake as is the case with other paints. It also does not wear down easily. The coating can last between 7 and 14 years.
